John Carnright, Cornwall Little League Past President

John Carnright, our past Cornwall Little League president passed away in December 2022. We are very heart broken but we are grateful for all the years of friendship that we had with him.

John was a former member of the Cornwall Recreation Committee and a former volunteer firefighter with Storm King Engine Company. He also shared his lifelong love of baseball with countless young people in the community, serving as both a coach and as the longtime President of the Cornwall Little League. He was proud to steward such an exceptional program, and oversaw the design and construction of the current “Shed”, housing the offices and concession stand of the complex.
A family statement reads: “John was a man dedicated to his family and community. He brightened lives with his special sense of humor and readiness to lend a hand to anyone in need. While we grieve his loss, we take comfort that his memory lives on in the many lives he touched and the hearts of his family and friends. We believe that he is up above and whole again. He is probably pacing near the dugout and chewing bubble gum.

In April 2023, the Little League Cabin was dedicated to John's memory at our Opening Day Ceremonies.
The plaque which will be proudly displayed in the cabin reads:
This cabin is dedicated to John Carnright in recognition of his tireless service and commitment to the Cornwall Little League and its players, for his passion for the game, and his dream that every child should have the opportunity to play. Throughout John's many years of volunteering at the Cornwall Little League, he was the President, a coach, manager of the Pirates, umpire, and fixer of all things broken. John was smart, kind, funny, and a real gentleman exemplifying good sportsmanship. Rest in peace our dear friend. We will miss you. Play Ball!
